Triple Toeic
If you have a specific problem accessing or using our services,
please explain ----- what happened in order for us to answer your
problen as quickly as possible.
a. details
b. detailed
c. in detail
d. detailing
If you have a (specific) problem (accessing or using our
services)/, (please) explain (in detail) what happened (in order
for us to answer your problen as quickly as possible).
결국
If you have a problem, explain what happened.
Employees ---- in the building after 6 P.M. will need to be sure to
lock the inner office doors.
a. will remain
b. remaining
c. remailed
d. have remailed
I am meeting you tommorrow.
a. will remain 은 왜 안될까요? will reamain 이 들어가면 문장전체에서
d. have remained 는 왜 안될까요?
들어가면 동사가 두개가 되어버립니다. who will have remained 가 되면
raking the leaves, 전화 받으면서 컴퓨터 자판 두드리고 있으면 do two
한계가 있습니다. 또 예를 들지요.... ㅡㅡ;;
Don't you want to be promoted to vice-president of the company?
a. The office is located in Germany.
b. I did, but i'm not so sure now.
c. Yes, he got the promotion.
Don't you ~ 로 묻는 문제에서는 I do 정도로 대답해야겠지요.
Will you ~ 로 물으면 I will ~ 로 대답하는 것이 정석이죠. I did ~ 로
또 Will you ~ 로 물었을때
Triple Toeic
ㅇ intensive course for the Toeic test
않은책.... 지금은 못구하죠... ㅡㅡ;;;

*General Business: contracts, negotiations, marketing, sales, business planning, conferences
*Manufacturing: plant management, assembly lines, quality control
*Finance and Budgeting: banking, investments, taxes, accounting, billing
*Corporate development: research, product development
*Offices: board meetings, committees, letters, memoranda, telephone, fax and e-mail message, office equipment and furniture, office procedures
*Personnel: recruiting, hiring, retiring, salaries, promotions, job applications and advertisements
*Purchasing: shopping, ordering supplies, shipping, invoices
*Technical areas: electronics, technology, computers, laboratories and related equipment, technical specifications
*Housing/corporate property: construction, specifications, buying and renting, electric and gas service
*Travel: trains, airplanes, taxis, buses, ships, ferries, tickets, schedules, station and airport announcements, car rentals, hotels, reservations, delays and cancellations
*Dining out: business and informal lunches, banquets, receptions, restaurant reservations
*Entertainment: cinema, theater, music, art, media
*Health: medical insurance, visiting doctors, dentists, clinics, hospitals
*Read the question first:특히 part 3, 4, 7을 풀 때는 이 원칙을 지키십시오.
*Listen to or read the entire question before answering: 선택지 (A), (B), (C), (D)를 모두 읽고 신중하게 판단하세요.
*Don't be upset by known words:
*If you are not sure, guess:
*Don't fall behind in the Listening Comprehension Section:
*Always go back over your work in the Reading Section if you have time:
C: Listening
*Pay attention to words that are stressed:
예를들어 "The doctor and a nurse are talking with a patient."
"Thedoctor and a nurse are talking with a patient."
예를 들어 walking/working, setting/sitting, microscope/microphone, telescope/telephone등의 단어들은 시험장에서 헷갈리기 쉬운 단어들입니다.
Howare we going to the party? ---> We're taking a taxi.
Whenis the party ---> Thursday. At 4 p.m.
Whereis the party? ----> In the director's lounge.
(ex)What is the fare to the airport? - That's a fair price.(x)
- About 12 dollars.(o)
예를들어 Who mailed the reports?
d.Part4를 푸는 요령
Whois the speaker? Where does the talk take place? What is the main idea of the talk? Who is intended audience? What is the speaker's purpose?
(ex) Everyone should have periodic eye examinations to make sure any problems are quickly ________ .
(A)produced (B) responded (C) discovered (D) prepared
(ex) Everyone should have periodic eye examinations to make sure any problems are quickly ________ .
(A)discovering (B) discover (C) discovered (D) to discover
(ex) Mr. Dupre has asked me to send his ______ regards to you and your staff.
(A)warm (B) firm (C) close (D) good
(ex) Three colleagues from China, who will be conducting research in this
A
country, needs housing in the downtown area from June 7 to July 31.
B C D
B(needs ---> need)
시간을 나타내는 단어인 last month, today, tomorrow, yesterday, since Thursday, now, always, in two weeks, next July들을 주의해야 하고 공간을 나타내는 단어인 above, across , down, near, through, away, outside, opposite, toward, underneath등을 주의해야 합니다.
(ex) The new brochures describing all our services were delivered to us
A B C
lateyesterday and were shipped out early tomorrow.
D
D(were shipped ---> will be shipped)

1. proceed, precede, procure
어근을 따져 보면 <pro(=forward)+ceed(=go)>이므로 쉽게 이해할 수 있는 단어다.
(ex)She proceeded to tell a funny story and we all laughed.(그녀가 재미있는 이야기를 진행하자 우리 모두는 웃었다)
Heused the proceeds from the sales of his car to buy a new one.(그는 자기 차를 팔아 낸 수익을 새차를 사는데 썼다)

(ex)The criminal procured weapons from manufacturers.(그 죄수는 제조업자로부터 무기를 조달 받았다.)
2. foresee, foreshadow, foreclose, forestall

(ex)He foresaw the troubles ahead and took steps to avoid them.
*foreshadow는 '미리 그늘을 드리우다'의 의미로 '전조가 되다'(be a sign of future events, portend)의 의미로 쓰인다.
(ex)The failure of that bank foreshadowed a general financial crisis.(그 은행의 파산은 전체적인 재정 위기의 전조가 되었다)

(ex)Old photocopiers are inexpensive to buy, but the cost of upkeep can be tremendous.(중고 복사기는 싸지만, 유지비가 매우 많이 들 수 있다.)
4. observance, observation
동사observe가 '보다'(view, watch)와 지키다, 준수하다(respect or follow laws, rules or customs)의 의미로 쓰이기 때문에 이 단어에는 명사형이 두 개가 있다.
*observance는 '준수', '행사의 경축'(the celebration of an event)을 의미하고 observation은 '관찰'을 의미한다.

Longman Grammar of Spoken and Written English라는 책이다.

(1)used to와 be used to
(ex)Mr. Kim stopped smoking last year. He doesn't smoke anymore. But he used to smoke 30 cigarettes a day.
(ex)I used to work out three times a week.<나는 한 주에 세 번씩 운동을 했었지만, 지금은 하지 않고 있다.>
*be used to다음에는 명사나 동명사가 오며, <...
(ex)He lost his wife 5 years ago. He is used to living alone.
(2) will? shall?
(ex)Shall I open the door? Shall we go fishing now?
(ex)You shall have all you want. = I will give you all you want.
a.제안 요구 동사(demand, suggest, recommend, insist, propose)나 명사(suggestion, proposal, recommendation)들 다음의 that절에는 S + (should) +동사원형 구문이 사용된다.

While that is still almost a year away, I thought it best to inform you of my plans as soon as possible. I have spent many years with this company, and it has been a rich and rewarding experience for me. I am proud of the progress we have made. However, I feel that as the company heads into the arena of high-technology, poised to be the world leader in optical fiber production, the mix of skills and expertise that I bring to the table becomes less and less valuable. I know that I am not the best steward for the company's transition. This is not shameful. It is the plain truth. It is inevitable that each generation must make way for the next and I am no exception. A: I'm glad I don't have one of those - I'd never get any work done. I'd wind up just staring at the patterns all day!
71. A : Our nutritionists recommend adding 5% more vitamin C to the blend to bring it up to 250 milligrams per saving.
B: How much would that add to our production costs?
A: Less than one cent per 100 units.
72. A : I love this cool autumn air - so crisp and refreshing.
B: I know what you mean. And the beautiful colors of the leaves. There's something very special about this time of year.
A: If I ere to pick a favorite season, I guess this would be it.
73. A : What's the best way to get to the Municipal Center from here?
B: Well, I think the Number 54 bus goes by there, but I'm not sure.
A: Here comes one now. I'll ask the driver.
74. A : Have you found a new roommate yet?
B: No. I'm getting worried. Rent is due next week and I don't think I can afford to pay the whole thing. I hope someone calls soon.
A: Maybe you should put an ad in a different paper.
75. A : It's almost the end of the year - time to get a new calendar.
B : Not me. I usually wait until mid- January or even February, when all of the really nice calendars are half price.
A: I don't know, I don't think I can last that long without one.
76. A : I've been thinking ... some plants would really cheer up the office.
B: I thought the same thing. It's certainly sunny enough in here. Why don't we get a mall tree or something for this corner?
A: That's what I was thinking. Let's go shopping for one over lunch hour.
77. A : Where do you leave your car when you go into the city?
B: There's a lot at 5th and Elm that's cheap and safe.
A: I'm going in today. I'll give it a try. Thanks for the advice.
78. A : You tried that new pizza place last week, didn't you?
B: Yes. it was really good - a little expensive, but good pizza.
A: Well, maybe I'll go there for dinner tonight.
79. A : Is smoking allowed in the office?
B: No, you'll have to go out on the loading dock if you want to smoke.
A: Actually, I don't smoke. I was just wondering if this was a smoke-free environment.
80. A : Where's Miss Jones today?
B: She called in sick.
A: Of, I hope it's nothing serious.

51. (Man B) How long does it take to get a passport?
(Woman) It took me about three weeks, but this is the busy season, so it could take longer.
(Man B) I'd better apply now, then. I don't want to get caught without it.
52. (Man B) Is there any more coffee in the pot? I'm falling asleep.
(Woman) No, it's empty, but I'll make some more - I could use a cup, too.
(Man B) For some reason, I find working late exhausting.
53. (Woman) Have you made plans for the holidays?
(Man A) Well, I'm still not sure what to do. I want to visit my family, but I'd like to have some time to be by myself and just relax. I'm trying to find a way to do both.
(Woman) I know what you mean. It can be hectic when the whole family gets together.
54. (Man B) Excuse me, but am I going the right way for the airport?
(Woman) Yes, go to the next light, turn left, and go straight ahead. You'll see signs for entrances to the airport.
(Man B) Thank you very much.
55. (Man B) Have you sent an invoice to Burke Industries? I need to add on charges for some software we just developed for them.
(Man A) The invoice is prepared and ready to go out. I can hold it, if you like, or we can send a second invoice later.
(Man B) Let me think about it and get back to you.
56. (Woman) Do we have any batteries? My calculator's stopped working.
(Man A) No, we used the last ones in the camera and never got around to buying new ones.
(Woman) Well, when you go out, would you mind picking some up? And maybe get some extras - we can never have too many.
57. (Woman) It's getting late. Shouldn't we be going?
(Man A) Oh, you're right. I got busy and forgot all about the time. I'll finish up here and we can go.
(Woman) I should've said something earlier. I thought you knew what time it was.
58. (Man B) Where do we keep the copier paper? The machine is empty.
(Man A) I don't know, I usually ask one of the secretaries - they know where everything is.
(Man B) Yes, the office would fall apart without them.
59. (Man A) Have you heard? Bob's leaving at the end of this month!
(Woman) Really? Why?
(Man A) One of our competitors made him an offer he couldn't refuse.
60. (Man B) Have you tried that restaurant that just opened on Tenth Street?
(Woman) Yes, I went there last Thursday for lunch. Their salads are so fresh - it's as if they grow their own vegetables.
(Man B) Sounds great! I was thinking of going there for lunch today. Would you care to join me?
61. (Man A) I hear there are a couple of new people starting next month. Do you know anything about them?
(Woman) Not really, but I think they're from England.
(Man A) Oh, that's great. We'll get a different point of view on things.
62. (Woman) Can I use your phone? There seems to be something wrong with mine.
(Man B) Sure, it's on my desk.
(Woman) Thanks. It'll only take a minute.
63. (Man A) How many copies of this contract do we need?
(Man B) Four total - two for them and two for us. Everything's been agreed upon, so we'll sign them at the meeting tomorrow.
(Man A) I'll make the copies and put them in the folder.
64. (Man B) That was great! I couldn't eat another bite.
(Man A) My salmon was very good! But they're trying to close up here, so we'd better pay the check and leave.
(Man B) I invited you, so I'll take care of it.
65. (Man B) I wonder where Henry is. It's not like him to be late.
(Man A) Maybe we should call him and see if he's okay.
(Man B) Let's wait a few more minutes. If he doesn't come, we'll call him.
66. (Woman) Oh, no! The water cooler's broken!
(Man A) Yes, it was leaking when we came in this morning so we turned it off. The repairman was supposed to have been here by now.
(Woman) I have to go out for lunch. I'll bring a bottle back with me when I come.
67. (Man B) I think I'm going to need some help doing my taxes this year. Do you have any suggestions?
(Woman) Yes, we got some software that makes it very easy, even when it's complicated. Would you want to try it?
(Man B) Sure. Anything to make the job easier.
68. (Woman) I'm having a problem inserting one file in another. Could you help me with it?
(Man B) To tell you the truth, I'm completely at a loss when it comes to computers. If it's anything complicated, I always have to look it up in the manual.
(Woman) Say, that's an idea.
69. (Man A) I can never remember how many hours behind New York we are.
(Man B) At this time of the year the difference is eight hours.
(Man A) So if I want to catch John in the office, I suppose I should call in the evening.
70. (Woman) Is there a measuring tape in the office?
(Man B) There should be one somewhere. Why do you need it?
(Woman) I want to rearrange the furniture in my office, but I think I should take some measurements before I go to any effort.
71. (Man B) I rode in on the bus today and left my briefcase in the overhead rack. Where do you think I should call to get it back?
(Man A) Just call the bus company's main number and ask for the lost and found. This must happen all the time.
(Man B) I suppose it does. I feel so foolish.
72. (Woman) Your voice sounds strange today.
(Man B) I know, I have a sore throat. I think I'm catching a cold.
(Woman) Well, try not to talk too much.
73. (Man B) Excuse me Miss. I'll need to see your driver's license, registration, and proof of insurance.
(Woman) Here they are officer. What seems to be the problem?
(Man B) I'm afraid you've been traveling at 20 miles per hour over the speed limit.
74. (Man A) Has the mail arrived yet?
(Woman) Yes, it has, but there's nothing for you.
(Man A) That's strange. I'm expecting a package that was mailed nearly two weeks ago.
75.(Man B) You know that Mozart tape you gave me for my birthday? Well, I was listening to it in the car on the way to work and my tape player ate it.
(Woman) How badly was it damaged?
(Man B) I'm afraid there's nothing left of it.
76. (Man B) I've been thinking of taking some evening classes to work toward a Master's degree.
(Woman) Oh, that's a great idea. What'll you study?
(Man B) Accounting, probably. I could finish an accounting degree a lot faster than I could any other.
77. (Woman) Do you have the address for the McShane Corporation handy?
(Man B) Yes, it's 1345 21st Street Northwest, Washington, DC.
(Woman) Thanks. They asked me to send some brochures and I lost the slip on it.
78. (Woman) I think it's time we upgraded our database software. They're some things we need to do that we just can't do with this system.
(Man B) Why don't you draft a memo to software support outlining the problem, and propose a solution?
(Woman) I think I'll do just that.
79. (Woman) Have you heard? Because of the way the holidays fall this year, we're going to have an extra day off.
(Man A) Of course that's good news, but when you think about it, it's very expensive for the company. I hope employees appreciate it.
(Woman) I'm sure they will, but perhaps not in the way you're thinking. You're asking too much of them.
80. (Man B) Well, they're calling my flight. I'd better go. I'm going to miss you all a lot.
(Woman) We'll miss you too. Please write, and call once in a while.
(Man B) I will, I promise. You take care of one another. I'll be in touch.

Questions 83-85
Ina move to strengthen the nation's sagging economy, the U. S. Federal Reserve cut interest rates by a quarter percent for the second time in two months. Major banks were quick to follow, which should mean lower costs for credit card holders, home owners, and other borrowers. Yesterday, the Federal Reserve cut the federal funds rate, used to determine what banks charge each other for overnight money, to 5025 percent. Major banks matched the Fed's lead by trimming lending rates for their best customers to 8.25 percent, down from 8.5 percent. Analysts say that the rate cut signals the Fed's concern with slowing economic growth, and predict a further reduction in the months ahead.
Questions 86-89
Goodmorning, and thank you for coming. I've asked you here today to tell you that I've decided to retire at the end of September. It is for a mix of personal and professional reasons that I feel it best to hand over the reins to the younger generation; a generation whose destiny is to create and control the technology of our future.

Questions 99-100
AsI'm sure you all know, one of the computers in the accounting department has gone down, and we are unable to retrieve any of the data from it. Fortunately, we backed up our date onto floppy disks yesterday, so our losses are minimal. This underscores the importance backing up your hard drives on a regular basis. In the past we have not had a formal policy in this regard. However, we are instituting a new data management policy to require routine daily backups of all files. Formal guidelines for the new policy will be distributed once they have been worked out. In the meantime, I want team leaders to assign to their team members responsibility for daily data backup.
