Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. |
One church in America had such an internal trouble getting serious that the church filed a law suit for the property right of the church at a secularcourt. When people examined the cause of the struggle and the internal trouble, they found out the origin of the cause started when an elder complained that a child who was sitting right next to him had a bigger piece of a ham than he had while all the members of the church were eating together. Such a problem in the church is caused by not bearing with one another in lobe and patience. The Apostle Paul said, "Be completely and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love"(Eph 4:2). We ought to be very patient people. The Bible does not instruct us to be patient for a short time. When we pray, we have a tendency to pray like, 'Lord, grant me the patience that endures for a long time. Give me that patience right away.' In the Bible, it says endurance is the characteristice of a mature person. Bearing with one another in love is not about permitting tacitly(1 Cor 13:4,5). The Apostle Peter was a very arrogant, rough, and impatient person. But in his letters, he says, "Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from the heart"(1 Pet 1:22), "Show proper respect to everyone:Love the brotherhood of believers"(1 Pet 2:17). "Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble"(1 Pet 3:8). "Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins"(1 Pet4:8). When we love each other, we become one in Jesus Christ. We have to be bearing, humble, gentle, patient, and love one another. How many different kinds of people are in the church? If we look at the people in the physical aspects, we can know there are various physical looks: there are tall people, short people, chubby people, and skinny people. If we look at the people in the view of mentality, there are sensitive, quiet, calculate, unplanned, artistic, and musical people. They have many people. They have many talents and abilities. We share the joy of becoming one in Christ when we bear the fruits of the Holy Spirit, which are patience, gentleness, and patience. | |
