Tired at Work? Here's How to Get Through the Day
You will probably know the feeling — it's time for work, but your eyes are only half-open, your arms and legs are heavy and your brain is still asleep!
So what can you do to survive the working day?
Here are a few tips. Of course, there are some jobs that you just can't do if you're tired — the only safe answer is to stay in bed.
Start with small things
Setting small goals for yourself is a good idea whether you're tired or not, but it's even more important when you're fighting sleep.
On these days you may find it extra hard to be productive, so try starting with some easy jobs that don't need too much brain power.
This may help you to get your brain in the mood for more difficult work!
Get moving
Try doing a little bit of exercise — it improves oxygen circulation in your body, which should give you some more energy.
It doesn't need to be anything difficult — maybe a few pushups or a short walk either before work or during a break.
Many people now use standing desks. These might allow you to move a little more during the day. Standing may also mean you're less likely to fall asleep!
Use water
When you're tired, water is your friend. Drinking it helps our energy levels, and it's better than drinking lots of cups of coffee.
Coffee is fine in the morning, but it's best to drink water after lunch to make sure you're able to get to sleep when you're finished work.
A cool shower or even splashing some water on your face can also help wake you up.
But if you find that you're often feeling tired at work and you're not sure why, it would be a good idea to speak to a doctor.
