The U.S. Embassy in Seoul, Korea is seeking an individual for the position of Office Management Assistant in the Executive Office.
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
The incumbent of this position will provide a very broad range of written and unwritten administrative, financial, and logistical support for the Ambassador, Deputy Chief of Mission and the Executive Office. The Executive Assistant reports directly to the Deputy Chief of Mission. The employee will plan and carry out the work of the Executive Office in support of the Mission, in accordance with established instructions, priorities, policies, commitments and program goals. Incumbent may be required to adapt or deviate from established guidelines in order to resolve specific issues. Tasks include, but are not limited to, carrying out the work of the Executive Office operations at Post. Perform other duties as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Education: U.S. high school diploma and completion of at least two years of college education is required.

Prior Work Experience: One year progressively responsible office management experience is required. Experience must be of a professional nature and must include some experience of supporting one or more high-level individuals.

Language Proficiency: Level IV (Fluent) of reading, writing and speaking in English is required.

Job Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of office management, final proofreading and editing of materials prepared by others, developing and implementing office procedures, composing letters for signature of supervisor, assembling information for reports, setting up and maintaining various databases. Knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and required formats. Knowledge of personnel record keeping procedures to maintain files of personnel regulations, directives, and references.

Skills and Abilities: Incumbent must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to attain and hold a Top Secret Security Clearance. Must be proficient in the use of computer software programs (i.e., Microsoft Office). Level II typing skill (40wpm) is required. Strong prrofreading skill is required. Ability to analyze office procedures, determine needs, and reorganize data and procedures without instruction. Ability to gather information and draft complex correspondence independently. Ability to use judgment to analyze information and take appropriate actions. (phone calls, prioritizing work, etc.).
SELECTION PROCESS
When fully qualified, U.S. Citizen Eligible Family Members (USEFMs) and U.S. Veterans are given preference. Therefore, it is essential that the candidate specifically address the required qualifications above in the application.

Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.
- Current Ordinarily Resident employees serving a one-year probationary period are not eligible to apply.
- Current Ordinarily Resident employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent Employee Performance Report are not eligible to apply.
- Currently employed U.S. Citizen EFMs who hold a Family Member Appointment (FMA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment.
- Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment, unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
- The candidate must be a US Citizen who will be able to obtain and hold a Top Secret security clearance.
