Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras 2009
Get ready for three weeks packed full of culture, entertainment and social events including the notoriously colourful Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade.
Mark Sunday 15 February 2009 in your calendar for Fair Day at Camperdown's Victoria Park which this year marks the launch of the Mardi Gras season.
Come and spend the day relaxing in Victoria Park, listening to the main stage acts, wandering the stalls or come and see sustainability in action and find out what you can do to make your home more sustainable. The City of Sydney�s Green House will be on display, complete with a vertical garden, helpful hints on reusing your household grey water and many other tips and tricks of how to be more �green�.
Make your trip to the fair an environmentally friendly one, hop on your bike and ride to the event and enjoy the free parking onsite.
Don�t miss your opportunity to grab a great viewing spot and see the thrilling and extravagant floats of the Parade when Oxford Street is transformed into a vision of glamour and glitz.

Free E-Waste Recycling Collection
If you are a City of Sydney resident you can recycle your e-waste for FREE at the City of Sydney�s e-waste drop-off service.
E-waste is electronic waste and includes computers, televisions, printers, mobile phones, cameras, CD and DVD players, discs and more.
By recycling your e-waste you are preventing hazardous materials such as lead and mercury from going into landfill and leaching into our waterways.

Clean Up Australia Day
Get involved in the biggest community based event in Australia and do your bit to clean up our City.
Every year hundreds of thousands of Australians help clean up their local environment on Clean Up Australia Day by picking up rubbish and removing noxious weeds.
These individual acts clean up thousands of kilometres of waterways, roadsides, parklands and bush each year.
It's easy, fun and everyone can take part. Individuals and local groups can either organise a Clean Up site or volunteer to join an existing site.

Rider Spoke
Be a part of one of the world's most unique interactive art projects in The Rocks this month.
Produced by globally-acclaimed, UK-based urban gamers Blast Theory, Rider Spoke mixes theatre with location-based gaming techniques to create an interactive experience on the streets.
A touch screen computer mounted on your handlebars will guide you through The Rocks. Slip down a laneway and find yourself a quiet space. Make a recording, then move on glimpsing traces of other players, eavesdropping under the bridge or from the top of Observatory Hill.

Emergency Architects Australia Exhibition
Emergency Architects Australia is a not for profit voluntary organisation which assists with emergency relief and reconstruction programs in developing countries within the Asia Pacific Region.
They act to provide rapid assessment and sustainable reconstruction to assist people who have experienced loss after man-made or natural disasters, helping them to return to their former normal lives.
This FREE exhibition at Customs House covers work undertaken in the Western Solomon Islands after the Tsunami/earthquake of 2007 including shelter and school reconstruction.

Memory Lane - Kings Cross Library 1959-2009
Take a trip down memory lane and recall the Library's various names, venues, facades and faces from when it opened in 1959 as a branch of the City of Sydney Public Library to its current home in the former 'Woolworths Building'.
The Kings Cross Library has a collection of 55,000 items and is open seven days a week with public access computers and a WiFi Hot Spot.
This 'memory lane' event is jointly hosted by the Kings Cross Arts Guild and the Kings Cross Library.

Living in a sensory world: stories from people with blindness and low vision
Explore the world of blindness and low vision at a powerful new exhibition at the Powerhouse Museum.
Presented in conjunction with Vision Australia, the exhibition aims to educate visitors about eye conditions, as well as offer an insight into how Australians who are blind or have low vision learn, work, play sport, create art and carry out everyday household tasks.
The displays feature objects from Vision Australia's heritage collection and examples of new technologies that are increasing the independence of thousands of Australians.
