Commentary on John 10 (1)
John 10 is about the shepherd and the sheep.
Just as John 15 is the relationship between the vine and the branches, John 10 is very important because it is the relationship between the shepherd and the sheep.
It can be safely considered a commentary on Psalm 23.
Psalm 22 is a prophecy about the Lord who suffered, but Psalm 23 speaks of the raised Lord becoming our shepherd.
Just as we cannot think of a branch without a vine and a vine without a branch, we cannot think of sheep without a shepherd or a shepherd without the sheep.
In this way, the shepherd and the sheep cannot be separated from each other.
They are always close together, and the sheep always listen to the shepherd's voice and follow him.
“When he puts forth his own sheep, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice” (John 10:4)
Because they know the voice of the Lord, his sheep follow him.
If we look at it from our side, we go according to the Lord, and if we look at ourselves as one with the Lord, we come according to the Lord.
Sheep distinguish and follow the word of God.
The blessing of those who discern the Word of God is, “The thief comes not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10)
We gain life, gain more, become abundant, and grow into Christ.
The vine and branches must be connected to bear fruit.
As it is said that love is the end of evolution, we evolve into love in Christ.
To do this, it is necessary to understand sheep pen and door.
“Therefore Jesus said again, Verily, Verily, I say to you, I am the door for the sheep” (John 10:7)
The Lord becomes the sheepfold and the door.
You cannot reach the altar of burnt offering without going through the door of the tabernacle.
We pass through the altar of burnt offering, past the laver, in the sanchuary, there are the golden candlestick and table of bread, we eat the shewbread, with the golden censer, and enter the Holiest of all after the veil.
If you cross the linen fence of the tabernacle and enter the sanctuary, you will die.
“I am the door; by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out ,and find pasture.” (John 10:9)
"going in and out"
These are amazing words that make my heart flutter just thinking about them.
If you enter into Christ, the Rock of Ages, He will be your refuge, and if you come out, he will guide you.
When you enter into Jesus Christ, he becomes a shelter where you can eat, drink, and live safely. When you come out, he comforts you with the rod and staff of the Lord.
This is the wonderful relationship between a shepherd and his sheep.
Because this is not imagination or literary appreciation, but preasence and reality, we must learn what process, procedure, and method the Lord to become the door of sheep for us and how we can enter and exit it and obtain the pasture of life.
“Therefore do my Father loves me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.” (John 10:17)
As the Lord said, we must become united with the Lord's death and his being raised, and we also unite ourselves with the Lord's death, handing over our old self to his death, being united with Christ, and being raised again: the message of the cross, becoming united with His resurrection and life, we diligently must repeat. As we train in godliness, that life must appear in our bodies.
We must practice repeatedly to become proficient in embodying the message of the cross of Christ, to be justified as dead to sin and alive to God in Christ, and to be able to freely think of the spirit.
It is already promised in the Bible that by trusting and following Christ in the atonement grace of the Lord's cross, we will receive forgiveness of our sins, learn the truth through the indwelling work of the Holy Spirit, and see and rejoice in His glory through prayer, worship, adoration, and praise as we follow Christ.
So, like David, you must make it an asset in your life.
Or you end up starving to death in a warehouse full of canned goods because you don't know how to open them.
