Dialogue
Ted: Ana, what are you doing? Watching TV on your phone? Why aren’t you paying attention?
Ana: My Favorite soap is on! And he just said we can turn our phones on!
Ted: That’s not what he meant!
Ana: I was part of the working group putting together this part of the presentation, anyway.
Ted: Well, I wasn’t and this is interesting.
Ana: But I saw your name behind half the advancements mentioned in this presentation!
Ted: It’s still interesting and your movie is distracting.
Ana: OK, OK. I’ll turn it off, party pooper. My DVR is recording it anyway.
Ted:

Ivan Seidenberg’s opening keynote address at International CES(Consumer Electronic Show)
Well, good morning, everyone. It’s wonderful to see you all, and we are delighted and honored to participate in this wonderful convention and be with you during this very, very important time in the history of our industry.
I would also like to just take a quick moment to thank Gary for all the things that he is doing. And I might add one thing, which is when you look at all of the work that Gary is doing to create this come back to the American economy, you know, earlier when you came into the room, they told you to shut off your cell phones and be careful with your RF devices. So when Verizon is up here, turn them on. Ping all you want. It’s fine.
Okay, so we heard on that video what makes this the most exciting industry in the world. It’s consumers, what they do, what they want, what they imagine. What the voices of those young people from all over the planet are telling us is that for them, technology is an extra hard drive for their brains, a second skin, a way to extend their presence through time and space.
