JESUS OFFERS AN ALLEGORICAL INTERPRETATION OF THE VISION OF THE TEMPLE
Jesus said to them, "Why are you troubled? Truly I say to you, all the priests who stand before that altar invoke my name. Again I say to you, my name has been written on this [...] of the generations of the stars through the human generations. [And they] have planted trees without fruit, in my name, in a shameful manner."
Jesus said to them, "Those you have seen receiving the offerings at the altar—that is who you are. That is the god you serve, and you are those twelve men you have seen. The cattle you have seen brought for sacrifice are the many people you lead astray [40] before that altar. [.. .] will stand and make use of my name in this way, and generations of the pious will remain loyal to him. After him another man will stand there from [the fornicators], and another [will] stand there from the slayers of children, and another from those who sleep with men, and those who abstain, and the rest of the people of pollution and lawlessness and error, and those who say, 'We are like angels'; they are the stars that bring everything to its conclusion. For to the human generations it has been said, 'Look, God has received your sacrifice from the hands of a priest'—that is, a minister of error. But it is the Lord, the Lord of the universe, who commands, 'On the last day they will be put to shame.'" [41]

예수가 그들에게 말했다. “너희가 본 제단에서 제물들을 받는 사람들이 바로 너희들이다. 그것이 너희가 섬기는 신이고, 너희들은 너희들이 본 그 열두 사람이다. 끌려온 짐승들은 너희가 본 희생 제물이다. 그들은 너희가 그 제단 앞에서 타락으로 이끈 {40} 많은 사람들이다. {…} 은 서서 이러한 방법으로 내 이름을 이용할 것이고, 경건한 세대들은 변함없이 그에게 충성을 바칠 것이다. 그의 뒤에 또 다른 남자가 {간음하는 사람들}로부터 나와 거기에 설 것이고, 또 다른 사람이 아이들을 살해한 사람들로부터 나와 거기에 설 것이며, 남자와 함께 잔 사람들과, 금욕하는 사람들과, 타락하고 무법적이고 그릇된 나머지 사람들, 그리고 ‘우리는 천사와 같다’라고 말하는 사람들로부터 나와 거기에 설 것이다. 그들은 모든 것을 종결짓게 하는 별들이다. 왜냐하면 인간 세대들에게 이렇게 말해졌기 때문이다. ‘보라! 하느님이 사제들, 즉 기만하는 사역자들의 손으로부터 너희의 희생 제사를 받으셨다.’ 그러나 명령하시는 주님은 우주의 주님이시다. 마지막 날에 그들은 모두 수치를 당하게 될 것이다.” {41}
