Guglielmo Vicario
Made a couple of brave saves when called upon, including one that led to a boot to the back of the head. Didn't have too much else to do. 7
Pedro Porro
Made an important block on a first half Tielemans shot after a Bissouma error. Then chased back superbly to cut out a Watkins pass in the box although the offside flag did later go up. A very impressive return to the team with plenty of strong defending. 8
Cristian Romero
Beaten to an early bouncing ball by Watkins but was bailed out by his Dutch centre-back partner. It had a couple more times in the first half but he was much better in the second half. 6
Micky van de Ven
Made a terrific early challenge to stop Watkins as he raced into the Spurs box in the first five minutes. Made a couple of similar contributions before one just four minutes into the second half brought what looked to be a hamstring injury, for an attack that was later flagged offside. 8
Destiny Udogie
Got up and down the left and was on the receiving end of the kick from McGinn that saw the Villa man sent off. Villa really struggled to deal with him. 8
Pape Matar Sarr
Picked up an unfortunate yellow card in the first half after slipping into Tielemans and took a big whack that saw him limp off at the break. He was excellent though after the interval and it was his drive and pinpoint cross that served up Maddison's opener. He was taken off after Villa went down to 10 men with his back problem and that yellow card no doubt in mind. 8
Yves Bissouma
Played an awful pass across the edge of his own box straight at Watkins but was grateful to Porro for blocking the ensuing shot from Tielemans. Made an important challenge in the Tottenham area after the half hour mark though on Bailey. Helped Spurs win the midfield battle. 7
James Maddison
Grew in influence as the game wore on and deserved his goal, racing into the box at the right moment to touch home Sarr's cross. 8
Dejan Kulusevski
A poor first half, as he failed to beat his man repeatedly, turned after the break. First he sent Sarr away in the build-up to the first goal and then he won possession back for the second before setting up Son directly for the third. Two completely different halves of football from the Swede. 8
Son Heung-min
He kept sprinting around for the team up front and grabbed an assist with his ball to Johnson for Spurs' second goal. Then he rocketed home a shot of his own before teeing up Werner for a late Spurs fourth. A real captain's performance. 9
Brennan Johnson
Bright from the start of the match, gave Villa plenty of problems with his pressing, dribbling and runs and he showed he's not just a super sub with a curling finish on the slide to double Tottenham's lead. 8
Subs
Radu Dragusin
Came in for Van de Ven and thankfully for Spurs the transition was near seamless. A very composed introduction into a tough game. 7
Rodrigo Bentancur
Helped Spurs keep the ball away from the numerically disadvantaged hosts. 6
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg
Made a few runs through the middle in a short positive cameo. 6
Timo Werner
Two goals in two games for Spurs and he placed this one well into the far corner. 7
