Worrying new research revealing the shocking effects of screen time | 7 News Australia
Internet addition, young minds being overrun by the online world. Social media is a big one, gaming is a big one, pornography is another one. An obsession so excessive, it’s rewiring teenagers’ brains. They are showing that it has these effects on the biology of the developing adolescents.
UK researchers reviewed 12 studies analysing the brains of more than 200 teens with a diagnosed internet addiction, finding consistent evidence of disrupted signalling in crucial regions of the brain. It was particularly significant when participants tried to engage in activities that relied on the central executive network, crucial for attention, decision-making, planning and problem-solving.
