the Purple Heart and the Iron Cross란 훈장에서
Buttocks of Steel"?
Hello all,
I am not quite sure what "Heartsof Iron" means...
Literally speaking and figuratively speaking,
what does this term imply?
Please give me some insights
Have a happy Thanksgiving!!

I recall a thread a loooong looooooong time ago in Paradox forums about the same question. I think it was posted even before the game was released. The problem is that i do not remember the answer

It could be a combination of the two, both American and German, medals best known during the conflict: the Purple Heart and the Iron Cross. Combined they could make Hearts of Iron hehehe.
Or maybe I am full of sh*t and really have no clue at all

I would think the meaning of the word is that the brave men and women who fought WW2, had to have their Hearts made of Iron......they fought the worrst war in history.

I think(!) it's taken from an address that Himmler gave to his aspiring SS leaders. Essentially he said that in order for them to become the heroes the Reich needed they had to sacrifice their natural human feelings (like compassion, pity, and mercy) and develop 'hearts of iron'.
I'll check my sources and get back to confirm or otherwise.

Next time you play HOI take a good look at the loading screen. The one that says Hearts of Iron on top. You will see a small group of soldiers getting up from their foxholes and walking across the open field.
Now imagine that you are one of those soldiers. You also know that enemy soldiers are waiting on the side of the open field. Imagine how much your own heart would be thumping. You would need a heart of iron to walk across that field. Hence the name.
The picture shows US Army soldiers or marines ready/preparing for action in a very naked terrain. An Pacific island? But in fact, it can mean anything!!!
첫댓글 음.... 영어군요 -_-;;;
전 마지막 리플 예기는 들어본 기억이 없네요. 위의 답변중에 몇개는 원츄! 그리고, 예전에도 같은 질문이 있었다는 사람은 뭔지... 역시 세계화일까? 아니면, 귀차니즘은 만국 공통의 인터넷 문화일까라는 생각이...-_-;
마지막 리플은 정말 강추군요 -_-;;
오.. 마지막 리플이 심정적으로 동감이 가네요^^;; 아직 HOI를 제대로 못했지만 시작 화면은 많이 본;;;
