Hey there! ^^
I saw you guys are practising hard, and to keep up with it you have to eat well and have good quality of sleep, which I understand is a struggle to you.
Last year, I started to struggle with anxiety and that led to bad sleep. Anxiety wouldn't let me sleep properly, and the lack of sleep would worsen my anxiety, so it a cycle hard to break.
So I started researching and trying different methods, and it has helped me, so I'm here to share it with you, as well as my thoughts and opinions, in case it helps you too!
Sorry in advance, this is gonna be a long letter.
Take into consideration, you can't pick just one and expect it to work miraculously. It's a bother but you have to actively work towards it, using more that one method, combining them, exchanging them, what suits you most in the moment. I know you have a busy life and sometimes it's hard, but this is all for your health and wellbeing so it's worth to try!
- Meditation. I know you said you tried it and it didn't work for you, but maybe you were not going the right direction. Meditation helps deal with stress, which takes a huge part in you quality of sleep. Trying to get rid of your stress is the goal to sleep better. Being an idol must be stressful, right? I'm sure you have a lot of worries, too. All of it, consciously or not, impacts in your sleep. Sorting out these worries and cutting off all stress in your life should help. I'm not saying it's easy, but we have to start somewhere. Lessen it, at least.
- Herbal tea. Herbs and natural medicine have great power. Some herbs that help us relax are: valerian, linden, passiflora (passion flower), chamomile. Don't worry, it's just tea! I also take some drops of tincture/extract of these plants at night. You can find them in natural stores or the chemist! (If I'm not wrong, tinctures are homeopathic medicine).
- Tryptophan. Precursor of melatonin. Eating food high on Tryptophan may help. Some examples (according to google) are: chicken, eggs, milk (rip), banana, pineapple, avocado, spinach, carrot, nuts, dark chocolate, legumes. You could also take melatonin supplements.
- Magnesium. Conveniently, is found on the same foods as tryptophan. Could also take supplements if you don't already.
- Breathing exercises. Related to stress and anxiety as well, helps you release it and relax. Makes you feel in control and connected with yourself. There's tons of them, so you should fine the one that you like the most (and doesn't make you feel dizzy). Some of them are: 4-4-4, box breathing, pranayama...
- Don't use electronic devices at night, at least 1 or 2hs before going to bed. The blue light they have disrupts our circadian cycle. Better options are reading a book, meditation, listening to relaxing music... you pick!
- Regarding biodescodification (believes disease and other problems are caused by emotional conflicts), it says having trouble to sleep is attached to fear, insecurity, worry, guilt, feeling anxious, troubles or not in control. A person that can't sleep is a person that needs to stay alert. Sorting and "healing" the root of it is supposed to heal the disease (or in this case, the issue of not sleeping properly) you are manifesting. Biodescodification is super interesting, if you wanna research it!
- Don't be skeptical. Believe in these techniques and that it will help you get better. At least for the placebo efect. If you are really convinced of it, it will work.
Another thing that works is exercising, but I didn't include it in your list for obvious reasons.
And lastly, personally... The Boyz helped me a lot to deal with my anxiety. I found comfort in you guys, in the words you said, in your songs and in your daily presence. So, once again, I wanted to say thank you. You brought only good things to my life <3
I really hope this helps, or that at least you found it interesting!
I love you to the Moon and I'm never coming back <3
