Dear Kevin,
First of all, merry christmas and happy holidays!! Second of all, its literally been maybe THREE years since I last posted on here??? i couldnt even find my probably 60 talking to the moons i wrote from years ago written to you and even had to reactivate my account on here since its been so long 😅
So much has changed and im still keeping up with the boyz of course (as much as I can at least since life has gotten so hectic!) I didn’t know if you wanted any life updates but since I still see you as someone I can talk to like a friend here are some:
1. I went on exchange to UBC!
Currently its my final year in university and im glad I was able to fit it in within one of my lasg two semesters 🥹 I’ve always dreamt of visiting canada or finally hitting a new continent I never have been to before and in an academic sense. Something about being with people your age with a semi structured lifestyle in another country was something I always wanted to experience (especially having grown up in Hong Kong all my life).
Its amazing here, I met a professor who quite literally challenged me so hard in his courses which I have never felt before and he was so realistic about life and teaching us practical things whereas my home uni ones would be more theoretical and surface level… I EVEN STOOD AT A KFC HERE FOR THREE HOURS SURVEYING PEOPLE FOR MY BRAND MANAGEMENT CLASS 😭
I had some friends already here thankfully which I met when they exchanged in Hong Kong and some even came to visit which I was super grateful for, but more importantly all the new people I met! I went on trips with my roommates and other exchange kids to Whistler, Bowen Island, Grouse that sort of thing (which I could have went to victoria island or nanaimo though but not enough time 😭)
And in case you were wondering I have photos! Maybe its just me but I love seeing how people not from my hometown perceive it (like a fresh perspective of sorts)
Here were some of my highlights from Whistler! We went there during my reading week and I went ziplining and even hit up spots you recommended (namely cows ice cream and even bought a bessie jr.)
I cannot believe people in canada casually get views like this (but thats also because im from a metropolitan city)
WHEN I WENT ZIPLINING!! There was also a forest lights show you probably know of which im blanking on the name of but it came with the zipline package!!
BESSIE AND MY NEW BESSIE JUNIOR!
I also finally experienced something I always wanted to experience… SNOW! Its always crazy to people i tell this to but i have never seen snow in my 21 years of living. I managed to when I went to whistler one evening and it was so MAGICAL! I was just facetiming my ldr bf (he also came to vancouver twice for me within 4 months from hk so shoutout) then my friends ran out and told me it was snowing AND THAT WAS MY FIRST SNOW
We ran about the area near the olympic rings in whistler like idiots just having fun especially me because once again IVE NEVER SEEN SNOW that ppl in their rooms started recording us probably thinking we were crazy but that was MAGICALLLL (despite it being rainy slushy snow)
ANDDD just this weekend I tried snowboarding at grouse!!
This is me . I look like your average delivery driver LOL
But i never expected it to be that PAINFUL especially walking in snowboots… apparently ski boots are even worse??? My tailbone is actually in so much pain right now and just my whole body which is TERRIBLE BECAUSE IM ONLY IN MY EARLY 20s… but i also probably messed up my knee a few times by over rotating it bc my leg is attached to something so heavy
Complaints aside it was sooo fun i wish i had more days here but i only have 4 left as im writing this
Here are other miscellaneous vancouver highlights too:
This is technically not whistler but a nice fall picture I took in stanley park
My roommate and her boyfriend from korea cooked a meal for us!! It was amazing I even got to finally make my own hotteok with them!! Something abt the texture of hotteok just scratches my brain right
My first time on a seabus! This was returning from longsdale quay (did you know its pronounced Key?? Bc i didn’t)
Below is some photo spam of the xmas lights events from Lake Lafarge, Capilano, and Vandusen if you’re ever missing christmas at home:
2. I ALSO WENT TO TORONTO (but that will have to be another post HAHAH)
3. I also got my driving license in HK (omg im fully an #adult #now)
May have failed once learning manual but i got it the second time!!
But anyways these are just some recent mini life updates over the last 6 months / 18 that we missed but now that I’m writing here again I might just recontinue soon again to fully catch you up!!
Let me know if you ever wanna hear more about my vancouver exchange memories (jokes i dont know how these things work anymore but I think I’ll only know if im on bbl or something) SO being the optimist i am ill just assume you’ll wanna hear more LOL
Anyways, signing off now! Once again merry christmas and I hope you had an amazing one this year
Tiffmastree is now done talking to the moon i guess LOL
(P.s. controversial opinion value village richmond > value village burnaby 🫢)
(P.P.S. I know christmas is done over there but i just know you’d love sabrina carpenters xmas EP)
