Squaw vine is a perennial, evergreen herb found around the bottoms of trees and stumps in woodlands from Nova Scotia to Ontario and southward to Florida and Texas. Its creeping or trailing stems grow up to a foot long, rooting at various points, and bear opposite, orbicular-ovate leaves that are dark green and shining on top and are often streaked with white. The funnel-shaped white flowers grow in pairs from April to July. The fruit is a scarlet berry-like drupe up to 1/3 inch in diameter.

Astringent, diuretic, tonic. Based on American Indian usage, squaw vine tea has been recommended as a drink to take during the last few weeks of pregnancy to make childbirth faster and easier. As a diuretic, it can also be used for gravel and urinary ailments. For external use, the tea makes a good wash for sore eyes and for skin problems. One Indian trive drank the tea to relieve insomnia.
5 사용법
- 우리기; 물 1컵에 1티스푼 30분
. 하루 1-3컵 음용
- 팅크; 강장제로 하루 5-15방울 복용
Infusion; Steep 1 tsp. leaves in 1 cup water for 30 minutes. Take 1 to 3 cups a day.
Tincture; As a tonic, take 5 to 15 drops, three times a day.
