Over the past few decades, people have had their hobby in order to make their life more abundant and relieve their stress. So, it has been generally argued whether it is better to have a hobby which is different from our job. Some people might think that it is better to have a hobby which is similar to our job, because it would be much easier to enjoy the hobby, and it will help us to upgrade our job quality, while others might disagree with the idea. However, I am thoroughly convinced that it is much better to have a hobby which is different from our major. Actually, I have a couple of reasons to support my opinions, and will show and develop them in the next following paragraphs below.
First of all, such a hobby helps us to relieve stress more effectively. When we have a hobby which is different from our job, we will feel fresher and more interested in it. Also, because we are not familiar with it, we will highly focus on learning it, helping us to forget problems made in our workplace. Some people might believe that a hobby which is similar to our major is more effective for us to enjoy, but such hobby would act like a second job, and a hobby should be a way to stray from our job. To give an example of this, my father is an engineer and enjoys fishing every week. As he is a service man, he normally has to talk with his customers all day long and easily gets tired. So, he relieves his stress and tiredness by fishing. When fishing, he rarely talks and just waits for catching fish. Others might think that his silent and lonely hobby seems not better than others, but it is actually not true. He is really satisfied with his hobby which is totally different from his job. He says that whenever he goes to a quiet place and catches fish without talking, he can feel very relaxed and forget anything from his tasks thanks to focusing on only catching fish. If he got a hobby which requires him to talk with others too much, he would definitely be overloaded. Likewise, we have all different occupations, and all of them have different features. Yet, it would be more effective for us to choose a hobby which has a chracteristic contrary to that of our major. This clearly shows that it is better to get a hobby which is different from our job.
Furthermore, having such a hobby will also only help us to increase the quality of our job. When we come back to our main job, we will be able to feel fresher on it. Moreover, when we are engaging in our main job, we will be highly motivated because we would expect the new and fresh hobby in the next time after our job is over. Some people might insist that when we have a hobby which is similar to our job, we can be inspired by it to develop our main tasks. Nevertheless, it cannot always be impressive for us to improve our job. We just need a hobby which can help us to refresh our minds. To support this idea with an example, I recently met a friend who is a football player and heard about a new and interesting story. His colleagues and he usually avoid enjoying hobbies related with football. This is because it is very important for them to forget and recover their frequent often injuries and slumps in their trainings and games, and other hobbies which are not associated with their job are more helpful to do so. He said that whenever he gets something bad in his job, he just reads a book without any movement. Through this hobby, he can forget the bad things and often get a great motivation and impression from it. He said that lots of books have good phrases and stories that can awaken him from a deep depression, making him more motivated and refreshed in his ordinary training. This example apparently shows that it is better to get a hobby which is different from our major.
