The practice of honing one's skills in martial arts is integral to personal growth. However, beyond skill demonstration, martial arts instills qualities like introspection, reflection, and gratitude, nurturing not only combat abilities but also fostering healthy, joyful, and balanced lives.
Advocated through two English textbooks authored by myself, this perspective finds resonance in Jin Young SsangkumRyu Haedong Kumdo. Here, the focus lies on harnessing energy flow to enhance martial prowess, fostering self-overcoming, self-development, and self-mastery through inner dialogue, and recognizing and addressing energy blockages to engage in healing practices for self and others.
This approach underscores the significance of inner growth alongside physical training, aligning with the core philosophy of martial arts.
