Day 6 – 7/30/17, Sun

Explore Machu Picchu • Travel to Cuzco

We rise early to travel to Machu Picchu again after breakfast, arriving before the crowds. You can remain at the hotel if you wish,

but most travelers appreciate this chance to see the ruins in a different light.

You can wander the sprawling ruins on your own, or, depending on which trails are open, choose between two hikes.

One brings you to the Inca Bridge, where a trail built with impressive Inca engineering crosses a cliff face. In one spot,

the Incas left a deep gap, which they bridged with logs that could be removed to render the trail impassable to enemies.

The second option is an ambitious hike to the Sun Gate at the Machu Picchu end of the Inca Trail, which offers a fine view

over the ruins.
We descend to the valley below to have lunch. Then, in the afternoon, we return by train through the spectacular

Urubamba Gorge. Back at Ollantaytambo, we get off the train and take a bus to Cuzco, making stops at points of interest

along the way. When we arrive in Cuzco, we check into our hotel, where we'll have dinner this evening.

Inca trail 30 miles

기차 일등칸 1시간 40분 간다.  Machu Picchu---? spiritual and relegious center, temple and houses. Spanish never conquered.

In the late afternoon, we return to our hotel. Dinner is on your own this evening.

마추픽추 버스로 다시 가서 잉카 트레인과 잉카 로드를 걸어 (3마일 왕복) 브릿지 봄. 3시간.

(Chirimaya fruit- 속이 하얀 것. 개인집에서 먹은 것)

다시 타운에 돌아와 점심 후 기차역으로 가서 Cuzco로 가기 위해 기차 탑승(1.5시간). 기차가 몹시 흔들린다.

특등칸이라 드링크 하나 거저.  기차역(Machu Picchu-pueblo)에서 내려 버스로 Cuzco 저녁에 도착(3.5시간?). 중간에

Additional Info from TV program. 11/26/17 Sci. Channel

- Still do not know the purpose of the Machu Picchu. Why it was built.

- High iron content stones were used to chip construction stones, in the direction of cleavage.

- Water was available, but not enough to support 500 residents (140 houses).

- They could not produce enough food from the step field.

They must have brought food and water from outside. But where from?

구름이 Aguas Calientes 마을까지 내려 왔다. 이곳에서 미니 버스로 마추픽추까지 간다.

이곳까지는 기차로 왔다.

이 버스가 줄지어 다니지만 그 많은 관광객을 실어 나르는 데는 오래 기달려야 한다.

잉카 브릿지. 걸쳐 있는 널판을 끌어 당기면 다리가 끊긴다. 외부의 침입을 막기 위한 방편.
