“Call on me /in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me.” (Psalm 50:15 NIV)
God says that there are times of trouble in life. In fact, he permits
those times and uses them many times /to draw us closer to him and to
build faith in us to pray. And as we call on him and put our trust in
him, he says that he will reveal to us great and amazing things
(Jeremiah 33:3).
God’s promise is that he will answer. Then, when the
deliverance comes, God gets all the glory. Of course, the enemy of our
souls will try to use the trouble /in our lives /to discourage us. But we
have to hold on to God’s promise, keeping our eyes on Jesus, the author
and perfecter of our faith.
Isn’t it true for all of us that when we get hit with some unexpected
trial, it causes us to immediately draw near to God /as we cry out for
mercy? On the other hand, when everything is fine, we sometimes neglect
to spend time with him or to even thank him, because we become easily
distracted by the very blessings () he sends our way.

We don’t have to wait /for a difficult time /in our lives /to draw near to
God and put our trust in him. On the other hand, if any of us is facing
a season of trouble, we can be encouraged by God’s Word //that invites us
to call on his name and witness the deliverance () he will bring about in
our lives.
