First shipment of Korean royal texts from France to arrive Thursday
The first shipment of ancient Korean royal books which were being held in France, will arrive in Korea today, Seoul’s culture ministry said. The first shipment of books from a 297-volume Oegyujanggak series are set to land at Incheon International Airport at 2pm and once passed through customs, they could reach the National museum by 4pm. The 75 ancient Korean royal books are returning 145 years since they were looted during the French invasion of Korea in 1866, and the issue had been a bitter pill for Koreans. The agreement to return the texts struck the right note with the public and was made by Nicolas Sarkozy and Lee Myung-bak when the two met in Seoul for last year’s G20 summit.

North Korea holding US citizen
The US government announced on Tuesday that one of it’s citizen’s is being held in North Korea on undisclosed charges. Mark Toner, a spokesman for the State Department, said that the authorities in the US were calling for the person’s release on humanitarian grounds and also asked Pyongyang to respect and treat the citizen in a manner that adheres to international human rights laws. Former US President Jimmy Carter is expected to visit North Korea once again later this month. Carter played a key role in peacemaking in the region, paving the way for a nuclear disarmament agreement, and he is expected to bring up the subject of the detainee if the citizen is still in custody at that point.
