As part of our unit on migration, the year 6 students from The International School of Penang (Uplands) took a day trip to Georgetown where they learned about the different types of cultures we have in Penang as well as the reasons people migrated to the city. Walking around the UNESCO Heritage site, students witnessed the types of architecture found in the city, how the different cultures influenced each other, and how they are reflected in daily life. Upon return to school, students explored the different types of food we have in Penang and how the availability of resources on the island in the past is present in many of our local cuisines today.
