Although based in Busan, the Trade
Commissioner reports to a Canadian Trade Commissioner located in Seoul. The
Trade Commissioner is responsible for one or more designated, proactive,
priority sector(s) and one or more reactive, secondary, sector(s), as assigned.
He/she focuses on developing South Korea as a market by identifying products and
services which hold significant potential importance to Canada, attracting
foreign investment to Canada and promoting science, technology and innovation
collaboration.
To this end, he/she will, in accordance with the policies,
methodologies and practices of the Canadian Trade Commissioner Service and the
Government of Canada, work with the trade team in Seoul to develop
sector-specific operational strategies that will source and prioritize
opportunities, increase international trade opportunities for Canadian
industries, encourage the inflow of foreign investments into Canada, as well as
enable the exchange of science, technology and culture between Canada and South
Korea. He/she will keep up to date information on current economic and social
trends to provide advice on new opportunities for Canada and South
Korea.
As such, he/she will be required to provide direct input into
sector-specific strategic planning, develop significant and current,
sector-specific, research-based market knowledge and intelligence; to build and
maintain a network of Canadian clients and South Korean key industry and
government contacts, and be responsible for the planning and delivery of
in-market trade fairs, conferences, seminars, networking receptions, and
government-led trade missions. |
