had better : ~하는 게 좋다 .
You had better give me the details.
자세한 내용을 알려주시는 게 좋아요.
[must] : ~해야만 한다.
You must cancel those credit cards straight away.
바로=right away
신용카드를 당장 취소하셔야 해요.
[should] : ~해야만 한다.
should : must보다는 약하지만 ~하는게 좋다는 의미 그게 놀라워?
You should call your bank and let them know what happened.
은행에 전화해야 하구요 그들에게 무슨 일이 일어난 건지 이야기하세요.
[ought to] : ~해야만 한다.
ought to : should와 비슷한 강도이며 must보다 강하지 않은 의미
You ought to let Motor Registry know about your license.
미국에서는 DMV라고 함(=Department of Motor Vehicles)
운전면허 등록처에 당신의 면허증에 대해서 이야기하셔야 해요

used to 발음처럼 ought to도 t발음을 뒤에 있는 to와 연결하여서 하나처럼 흐르듯 발음해 줌
[should not] : ~하지 말아야 한다

should not : ~하면 안된다
신용카드 취소하는 것을 잊어버리면 안되요.
[had better not] : ~하는게 좋지 않다

~하는 것이 좋지 않다 + 동사원형
조언할 때 충고할 때 쓸 수 있는 표현들 : should /ought to /must /(don’t) have to /had better

I would=I’d / You would=You’d
이러한 발음을 잘 알아듣기 위해서는 많이 듣고 많이 연습해야 함.

cause를 ‘코’가 아닌 ‘커’로 조금 길게 발음해 줌
cause의 s는 /z/로 발음해야 함
