B : Yeah, I think it caught the other guy totally off guard.
knockout punch = K.O. punch = a knockout blow 강력하고 맹렬한 일격, blow[blou]불다 / She is a knockout. 저 여자는 정말 매력적이야 / vicious[víʃəs]사악한 / opponent[əpóunənt]경쟁자, 상대방 / off guard 방심한 / I think it caught the other guy totally off guard. 저 펀치는 완전히 허를 찌른 거라고 생각해요.
A : How did the meeting go? 회의가 어땠어?
B : Fine until Andy threw a left hook at me. 엉뚱한 질문을 하다
A : What happened?
B : He asked me some things that I was unprepared to answer.

A : What did you think of Mark's new idea?
B : I thought it came out of left field.
A : I agree. How does he think those things up?
B : I don't know, but he sure does have a creative mind.
come out of left field 뜻밖의 일, 예상치 못한 일 / think up생각해 내다 / I don't know, but he sure does have a creative mind. 모르겠어, 하지만 창의력이 뛰어난 건 틀림없어.

Once there lived a coal miner in a far away land. Every morning, he put on his working clothes and went to the coal mine. He worked very hard and dug out as many coals as he could every day. He came home in dirty clothes that became black and dusty from the coal. He also brought coal home.
옛날에 머나먼 나라에 광부 한 사람이 살았다. 매일 아침, 그는 작업복을 입고 탄광으로 갔다. 그는 매일 매우 열심히 일했고 가능한 한 많은 석탄을 캐냈다. 그는 석탄으로 인해 먼지가 많이 묻은 까맣게 된 더러운 옷으로 집에 왔다. 그는 또한 석탄을 집에 가져왔다.

관계대명사 (what) 은 선행사를 포함한다. (what = 선행사 + 관계대명사)
all that∼, anything that∼, the thing which∼ 와 같은 용법이다.
따라서 what 은 명사절을 유도한다.
This is all (the things) that I bought yesterday. = This is what I bought yesterday.
즉 : 위 문장에서 all that, the things that 은 what 으로 버꿔쓸수 있다.
What 은 문장상에서 주어 보어 목적어로 쓰인다.
1) 주어로 쓰일때
What I bought yesterday is this book.
What I want to do is sleep.
What he said is quite true.
2-1) 주격보어로 쓰일때
This book is what I bought yesterday.
That's What I like about her.
2-2) 목적보어로 쓰일때
Father made me what I am.
3 -1) 타동사의 목적어로 쓰일때
She likes what I bought yesterday.
I know what you did last summer.
I don't understand What he says.
3-2)전치사(of)의 목적어로 쓰일때
She is fond of what I bought yesterday.
