Opening-Day roster set The Rangers, who began training camp with 36 pitchers, finally settled on 13 for their Opening-Day roster. Texas finalized its 25-man roster March 30 by making moves with five pitchers and third baseman Mike Lamb, who lost his starting job to rookie Hank Blalock and will begin the season at Triple-A Oklahoma. Right-handed reliever Jay Powell was placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 22, for tendinitis in his right middle finger. Left-hander Chris Michalak and right-hander Anthony Telford, both non-roster invitees to spring training, were assigned to Oklahoma, while left-hander Juan Moreno was designated for assignment, and right-hander Francisco Cordero was optioned to Triple-A.
