Sample Essay
Everybody wants to succeed in life. Still, many people raise a question about how they can achieve success. Some people think that different qualities are needed for different occupations. However, I strongly believe that there are two critical characteristics for success regardless of jobs: perseverance and social skills.
To begin with, people who hope to be successful need to be perseverant. Whatever they are interested in, they should be able to stick to it no matter what. For instance, my mom is a well-known interpreter across the nation. She always wanted to have the job. Every night, she studied the foreign language, English, thinking that she would do her best to realize her dream. After she graduated from the university, she got admitted to the graduate school for interpretation and translation with an unimaginable amount of efforts and patience. Then, she got to think that she couldn’t make it and should quit in the middle of the course because it was so tough to keep up with. Nevertheless, whenever she had to face her harsh reality, she could go on thanks to her strong will and faith toward her future.
Second of all, people of success should be equipped with social skills. We are living in the world of information and communication and therefore, anyone who doesn’t know how to better interact with others can’t be successful. For instance, my classmate, Alicia, seems to have everything she needs to be ahead of others; she is intelligent, diligent, skillful and all that. However, she has had trouble communicating and cooperating with others in class all the time. She caused a problem when she had to do the group project with five other students due to her stubbornness. She literally refused to listen to others in the group. And she hardly cooperates with others, thinking that she is the best. But in reality, there are so many works that require ideas and hands from others for the best result. Thus, if people can earn high social skills, cooperation will be the best weapon to fight with in the competition. Without it, in spite of all the talents and abilities, success would be pushed away.
To conclude, having perseverance and social skills are the two crucial traits people should possess for their success.
