I purchased a new 2005 Lesus ES330 about 90 days ago. I noticed the transmission hesitation problem before I had even gotten the vehicle home from the dealership (about 85 miles). Contact with the dealership has been fruitless as far as resolving the problem. I was told that they are aware of complaints, but try the company line that it was engineered to perform this way. Basically, the transmission will not gear down satisfactorily, UNTIL it comes to a complete stop. A slow turn and then acceleration will 'always' result in 'lagging' of gear changes, then it will finally gear down and lurch into the lower gear. It's aggravating and can be downright dangerous in tight crowded freeway driving conditions where it's not unusual to have to slow down and then speed up without getting rear-ended. I've given up on any dealer fix - I plan to keep the vehicle for at least a year and then trade it away for some other make. I pity the new purchaser of this car. It's so bad, that my wife refuses to drive it. She chooses instead to drive our compact pickup truck. That is not a favorable advertisement for Lexus! I'd be more than happy to continue this discussion with anyone interested. I found this website by searching for a transmission fix for this vehicle. By the way, the problem does not 'go away' after it's broken in - I have over 5 thousand miles on it and no change. It's a sick performing transmission.
