In 20 years, people will spend more time exercising than they do today. Do you agree or disagree with the statement? Use specific reasons and details in your essay.
Indeed, it seems to be true that people nowadays spend quite more time exercising than they did in the past. Whether or not this momentum will continue consistently is a matter we have to consider. Some might say that the frequency and proportion of exercising will end up composing more vaster part of people's entire daily basis in 20 years; nevertheless, others may disagree with them for some reasons. However, my point of view on this topic is that both of the scenarios are likely to turn out to be true. Each of them has its own plausible point, and thus I will discuss both of them in the next following paragraphs.
On the one hand, there could be a possibility that people will spend more time doing exercise in order to compensate for the loss of their physical activities. Most of our ancestors in the past lived as foragers or participated in nomadic or semi-sedentary lifestyles, which means that they practiced a lot of exercise of a kind and stayed fit. The human body needs working out by nature. The sedentary lifestyles of modern society have allowed people not to use their muscles so obviously that the number of the population on the heavy side is getting drastically increased, let alone the population of those who suffer chronic fatigue and lethargy due to lack of physical activities. Therefore, under these considerations, people may spend more time exercising in the future. My own experience epitomizes or demonstrates an example of this prediction fairly well. I was pretty skinny when I just graduated from high school. My everyday life pattern had been no more than revolving around school and home, which consequently debilitated my prowess to study and focus on the textbooks that I learned. It was a critical issue for the ordinary student that I was. So, I went to one of the nearby gyms and started to work out there. As a result of that, I gradually became healthier, and soon my body condition recovered to its previous one, to speak nothing of the fact that my academic success was also recuperated in turn.
On the other hand, there would be another possibility that people won't spend more time doing exercise in order to maintain their health condition in 20 years. Pathology and medicine have experienced such drastic improvements over the past few decades on unprecedented scales. Moreover, social facilities which encourage citizens to work out are established covering cities in far-reaching ranges, and various kinds of ways to ensure that people's health maintains intact are granted: such as social health cares funded by pension, extracurricular activities in schools, or governmental health insurance plans for the poor. These factors are likely to make citizens less concerned with their health maintenance because they already feel secured from the danger of becoming unhealthy. This could sequentially lead people to think of physical activities as something unnecessary for their keeping fit. Correspondingly, in the future, people may not exercise as regularly as they do nowadays.
