Question: 8
I believe that people’s working hours will stay untouched even in the next 20 years as it is now. As you may know, technology, especially one with A.I., has seemed to advance exponentially over the past few years, which made technologists and other concerned experts prophesy that there will be vast unemployment of the human workforce, being displaced by a robotic workforce. Contrary to the expectations, the truth is that it has never happened by far. Statistically speaking, labor productivity in the U.S. was expected to grow more rapidly than it usually does due to the acceleration of technology, to the extent where the autonomous substitutes the majority of man-powered labor. However, we are instead seeing the opposite. Despite the exponential improvement of technology, the labor productivity growth has been slowing down over the past couple of decades, with which we can predict that even in the future, where technology including A.I. will be even more enhanced than that in the present, people will still have jobs with the same working time. Technology as a means just expands what human beings can do, not displacing them. Therefore, the total working time will not decrease in 20 years.

As far as I'm concerned, governments should prioritize providing financial support to electric cars. Fostering the usage of public transportation is a desirable idea from the perspective that it can allure general commuters to join in the project of reducing carbon dioxide dispersed. However, most of the emissions of CO2 are actually attributable to cargo transportation, which means encouraging people to utilize public transportation won't drastically impact the total quantity of greenhouse gas released. The appropriate alternative would be, thus, to render assistance to companies or customers associated with eco-friendly cars. It is able to not only help diminish carbon dioxide emissions by replacing existing cargo trucks with electric-powered ones but also entice ordinary drivers to opt for electric cars instead of gasoline-fueled ones, like striking two birds with one stone.
