The Best Brain Food for Test-Takers(= ppl who take a test / a person who studys English = an English-studier)
Brain
food, can give us energy and help us (to ) live longer, more satisfying
lifestyles but, did you know that it can also get(=give) you better test
scores? Now I'm not exactly saying, "eat a banana; score a 2400 on(테스트 앞에는 전치사 "on") the
SAT," but if you eat some of the brain food (which are) listed below, your brain
will begin to function(=work) better, and that can only lead to(=cause) positive
changes on test day.
1.
Green tea: According to Psychology Today, the bitter-tasting substance(=substance which is tasting bitter)
in green tea, can actually protect the brain from wear(동사로 더 많이 쓰임 "마모") and tear. Plus,
it helps dopamine production, which is key to having a positive mental
state. When you're going to take a test, you need to have a positive
attitude, or you end up second-guessing yourself.
*bitter <-> sweet / bland
*(사람을 묘사할때) bitter toward SB <-> meek
*end up ~ing / end up with SB/STH
*second-guess(V or N) / second-thought(N) - you need to give it second-thought
2.
Eggs: Choline, the "B-vitamin"-like substance our bodies need (The substance like B-vitamin that our bodies need) , can help
your brain (to) do something (that) it's good at: remembering stuff(회화에서 잘 쓰이는 구조). Some studies
have found (that) increasing choline intake(=taking choline more) can improve memory, and egg
yolks are among the richest and easiest natural sources of choline. So
scramble some up a few months before a test to see if it helps you
remember.
*rich - 맛이 풍부한
*여기에서는 scramble (up) 이 동사로 쓰였지만 보통 명사로 쓰임.
Ex) how would you like your egg? http://cafe.daum.net/sement/PC57/24
3.
Wild Salmon: The omega-3 fatty acid DHA is the major fatty acid (which is) found
in the brain. Eating food (which is) rich in omega-3's, like wild-caught salmon (=salmon which is caught in the wild),
can improve brain function(위에서는 동사로 쓰였는데 여기에는 명사임) and mood. And improved brain function
(reasoning, listening, responding, etc.) can lead to a higher test
score.
4.
Dark chocolate: We've all heard for a while now that in small
quantities, 75% cacao content or higher dark chocolate can lower blood
pressure and cholesterol because of its powerful antioxidant properties.
But one of the best uses of dark chocolate comes from its natural
stimulant: caffeine. Why? It can help you (to) focus your energy (on a test).
