최근 시애틀에서의 일상을 다루는 잡지 'Seattle Metropolitan' 은 시애틀 사람들이 좋아하는 서북미 와인을 선정해 발표했습니다. 이 잡지(이하 메트로)에서는 와인 비평가이며 현재 '매스터 오브 와인' 인증과정을 밟고 있는 오리건 거주 콘데 콕스, 서북미의 로버트 파커라는 평을 듣고 있는 제이 밀러 등과 함께 1백개의 와인을 선정했습니다.
메트로는 특히 기존의 카버네, 멀로, 샤도네, 리즐링, 피노느와로 압축되는 구도에서 벗어나 서북미 와인 지도에 네비올로, 산지오베세 등 이태리산 품종의 약진이 눈에 띄게 두드러졌음을 지적하고, 앞으로 서북미산 와인의 품질이 계속해 향상될 것이라고 낙관했습니다.
