분사
준동사중 두 번째로 살펴 볼 것은 분사이다. 분사는 형용사역할을 하는 데 현재분사와 과거분사 두 종류가 있다. 현재분사(동사+ing)는 능동의 의미가 있을 때 과거분사(p.p.)는 수동의 의미가 있을 때 사용한다.
1. 명사앞에 오는 분사
분사는 크게 세 가지 형태로 사용되는 데 그 첫 번째는 분사가 명사 앞에 오는 경우이다. 분사가 형용사역할을 하기 때문에 명사 앞에 와서 명사를 수식하는 것이다. 현재분사가 올지 아니면 과거분사가 올지는 분사가 수식하는 명사의 입장에서 능동이면 현재분사 수동이면 과거분사가 온다.
(1)Job scraped himself with a piece of broken pottery.
(Job 2:8)
욥은 깨진 도자기 조각으로 자신을 문질렀다.
*도자기(pottery)가 깨는 것이 아니라 깨짐을 당하는 것이기 때문에 과거분사(broken))가 와야 한다.
(2)My appointed time is near. (Matthew 26:18)
나의 정해진 시간이 가까이 왔다.
*시간(time) 정하는 것이 아니라 정해지는 것이기 때문에 과거분사(appointed)가 와야 한다.
(3)God is a consuming fire. (Hebrews 12:29)
하나님은 소멸하시는 불이다.
*불(fire)이 소멸당하는 것이 아니고 소멸하는 것이기 때문에 현재분사(consuming)가 와야 한다.
(4)The Lord smelled the pleasing aroma. (Genesis 8:21)
주께서 기쁘게 하는 향기를 맡으셨다.
*향기(aroma)가 기쁘게 당하는 것이 아니라 기쁘게 하는 것이기 때문에 현재분사(pleasing)가 와야 한다.
