우리 남편은 음악을 참 좋아하고 또 목소리가 아주 좋아 노래를 잘 부릅니다.

그래서 대학교때는 음대로 전과를 할까 생각도 했었다고 합니다

My husband loves music and has a wonderful voice, so he's a great singer.

So, he even considered transferring to a music major in college.

남편은 성악책들을 사다가 독학으로 공부를 하는것은 물론

My husband not only bought vocal music books and studied on his own,

몇년전에는 음대교수한테 성악 레슨도 받았습니다.

but also took vocal lessons from a music college professor a few years ago

그리고는 성악 공개 레슨 (매스터 클래스 masterclass) 비데오(디비디)를

수집해서 열심히 보면서 성악공부를 합니다

He also collected videos (DVDs) of open vocal lessons (masterclasses) and

diligently watched them to study vocal music.

세계적으로 명성이 있는 분들이 가르치는 것을 주로 하지요.

They mostly teach courses taught by world-renowned experts.

물론 유 튜브에도 상당히 좋은 것이있지만.

Of course, there are some really good ones on YouTube, too.

남편은 성악레슨 디비디를 있는대로 다 수집을 했는데, 꼭 하나를 찾지 못했었답니다.

My husband collected all the vocal lesson DVDs he could find, but he couldn't find one.

세계적인 예술가곡의 성악가인 Elly Ameling (네덜랜드의 소프라노)의

디비디 "to the heart of art song" (예술 가곡의 열정) 인데

Elly Ameling (Dutch soprano), a world-renowned art song singer,

has released a DVD called "To the Heart of Art Song."

7년간 전세계를 뒤지며 이 디비디를 찾았답니다.

He spent seven years searching the world for this DVD.

미국에는, 시아틀의 어느대학 도서관과 뉴욕시 도서관에서 매입한 근거는 있는데,

In the United States, there is evidence that the book was purchased by

a university library in Seattle and a library in New York City.

뉴욕시 것은 망실이 됐던지 파손이 돼서 지금은 소장 하지 않은 걸로 나와 있읍니다.

The New York City copy is listed as either lost or damaged and

no longer in their possession.

정말 귀한 자료입니다.

This is truly valuable information.

그런데 한달반전에 우연히 네덜랜드의 한 판매 사이트에

Elly Ameling ㅡ to the heart of art song 이라고 또 7 유로라고 써있는데,

But then, a month and a half ago, He happened to come across a Dutch sales site

that listed "Elly Ameling - to the heart of art song" for 7 euros.

나머지는 네덜란드 말이라 알 수가 없어서 적혀있는 전화 번호로 확인해보니

찾던 디비디라서, 총계 $17 주고 구입했답니다.

The rest was in Dutch, so He couldn't understand it.

So He called the number listed, and it turned out to be the DVD I was looking for,

so He bought it for a total of $17.

남편은 희소 가치 때문에, 200불이라도 구입할려고 했는데,

My husband was willing to pay $200 for it because of its rarity value,

너무 싸게 사서 너무 즐거워 했습니다.

but he was so happy to get it for so cheap.

주로 시장에 많이 있는 다른 사람들의 공개 레슨 디비디는 $50선입니다.

Most other people's open lesson DVDs on the market cost around $50.

이 디비디를 보니 한 학생이 노래를 하며 오른 손을 배꼽 근처에서 바깥 쪽으로 움직이며,

Watching this DVD, one student sang, moving his right hand outward from his navel,

시쳇말로 감정을 잡으려 했더니, Elly 선생이 노래의 표현은 목소리로 해야 한다고

trying to capture the emotion, as they say. Teacher Elly suggested

that singing should be expressed through the voice,

(몸짓 보다는) 말하는 것이 다른 전문가 들의 권유와 같았고

rather than through gestures, as other experts had recommended.

이 디비디가 학생들에게 많은 도움이 되리라 생각된다고 합니다.

He said he thought this DVD would be very helpful to students.

My husband really enjoyed the two DVDs pictured here, by Thomas Quasthoff.

불과 몇년전에 은퇴 했지만,

He retired only a few years ago,

이사람이 세계 최고의 베이스 나 베이스 바리톤이 아닌가 생각이 든답니다

but my husband thinks he might be one of the best basses or bass-baritones in the world.

남편은 이 유명한 분들에게 레슨을 받으러 세계 곳곳에 다닐 수가 없었지만

My husband couldn't travel the world to take lessons from these renowned artists,

수집한 디비디를 보면서 성악공부에 많은 도움을 얻었다고 합니다. 

but he said he found great help in his vocal studies by watching the DVDs he'd collected.

지난주에 만 3살짜리 우리 손자가 며칠 다녀갔지요

Last week, my 3-year-old grandson came for a few days.

손자는 자기가 읽은 책 이야기에 자작곡을 붙이고 노래를 합니다

My grandson composes and sings songs based on the stories he reads.

성악전문가 할아버지 말씀에 의하면

According to his grandfather, a vocal expert,

작곡도 재미있게 잘하고 목청도 좋고 발성도 잘한답니다

He's a talented composer, has a wonderful voice, and is skilled at vocalizing.

남편은 손자가 천부적으로 음악에 재능을 타고 난것 같다고

My husband says my grandson seems to have a natural talent for music.

요한  세바스챤 바하의 혼이 세바스챤에게 온것같다고 합니다

He says it's as if the spirit of Johann Sebastian Bach has come to Sebastian.

(우리 손자이름이 세바스챤이거든요)

(My grandson's name is Sebastian.)

팬티만 입은 손자가 노래부르면서 피아노 키보드를 치고 있고

The grandson, wearing only underwear, is singing and playing the piano keyboard.

할아버지는 음악에 맞추어 백댄싱을 하고 있습니다

The grandfather is dancing in the background to the music.

(손자가 입은 팬티에 기타그림이 있습니다)

(The grandson's underwear has a guitar design on it.)

세바스챤은 또 증조할머니 앞에서 자작곡 노래부르고 춤추고 해서

Sebastian also sang and danced his own song in front of his great-grandmother,

엄마가 파안대소... 깔깔 웃으시고 재미있어 하셨지요

and great-grandmother burst out laughing... She laughed and was so amused.

그리고는 "내가 증조할머니를 웃겼지"하고 신나했었습니다

Then he exclaimed, "I made my great-grandmother laugh!"

세바스챤 노래와 춤에 정신이 빠져서 동영상도 못만들고 노래하는 사진도 별로 찍지 못했습니다

Sebastian was so absorbed in singing and dancing that I couldn't even make a video or

take many pictures of him singing.

우리 손자는 음악에는 재질이 많은것 같은데

My grandson seems to have a talent for music,

그림 그리는 것은 영~ 좋아하지 않는답니다

but he doesn't like drawing at all. 

우리한테 "그림 그리는건 어려워" 합니다

He told us, "Drawing is hard."

할아버지, 아버지 모두 그림솜씨가 좋은데 손자는 그 유전자는 타고나지 않은것 같습니다

His grandfather and father both have great drawing skills,

but my grandson doesn't seem to have inherited that gene.

우리 손자가 할아버지의 꿈을 이루어 줄수 있을까... 기대가 됩니다

I wonder if my grandson can fulfill his grandfather's dream...

I'm looking forward to it.

[푸른 하늘]

세바스찬이 지금은 14~15살정도 되었겠어요.
지금쯤 변성기의 소년목소리로 노래를 부르겠어요.
그리고 이글을 손자도 읽을수 있도록 영어로도 쓰셨나봐요.
할아버지께서 손자가 같이 노래를 부르시고 춤을 추신다니
이 얼마나 아름다운 모습인지요.
요즘 한국에는 노리잘하는 사람이 참 많더러고요.
손자의 고운 노래를 언제 저도 들을수 있을까요?
