The Charter of National Education

The Charter of National Education      We all have been born on this land with the historic mission of mid-innovating our nation. This is the time for us to establish a independent posture inwards, and to contribute to the common prosperity of mankind outwards, by revitalizing the illustrious spirits of our ancestors. Hereby, We do set up the Aims of our Education as follows;      With our sincere heart and our strong body, we cultivate our innate talents, learn and acquire knowledge and skills putting importance on efficiency and substance,  and cultivate the power of creation and the passion of development. Taking the present difficult situation as the foundation of the rushing forward, and taking priority to the public profit and social order, we will promote the spirit of fair and warm co-operation in accordance to the tradition of mutual assistance that is rooted in the inherited spirit of respecting the aged and loving the young.      Recognizing that the nation develops through the creative and co-operative activities and that the national prosperity is the ground for individual growth, we will encourage the willingness to participate and serve in building our nation  by doing the best to fulfill the responsibility and obligation accompanied with our freedom and right.      The rigid spirit of loving our nation and our people in the  democratic and  anti-communism system is the way of our survival and is the basis of realizing the ideal of liberal nation.      Looking forward to the future when we shall have the honorable unified fatherland  to be succeeded to our posterity, we, as an industrious people with self-confidence and pride, pledge ourselves to make new history with untiring effort and collective wisdom of the whole nation.    December 5, 1968 President of the Republic of Korea Park Chung-hee
