Dr.
Aeduck Im, president of BPW Korea Jeju club, is founding director
of
both
Chongsu Social Welfare Foundation and AeSuhWon Sister Heights
facility
for single mothers on Jeju Island, Republic of Korea. Dr. Im,
who
holds a PhD in Applied Social Work from EWHA Women's University
in
Seoul,
is also a professor at Jeju National University. She is a
founding
member of Jeju Women Governance Forum which informs local
government
on women's issues, Vice President of Korea Women Welfare
Association,
and has held many other positions of leadership in the Jeju
Island
community. In 2012, in World Conservation Congress of IUCN in Jeju, as general
secretary, Dr. Im proceeded Haenyeo workshop to make it worldwide issue. As BPW
Korea Jeju club president, last year Dr. Im made a global mentoring program for
youth in Jeju where girls high school students and Fulbright granted English
teachers and BPW Korea Jeju club members in Jeju could discuss the career
mentoring and community identity where Haneyo and Haenyeo spirit was an
important issue. A longtime advocate for the rights of single mothers and
founder of alternative school for teen single mothers, Dr. Im also supports
education, vocational training, and mentoring for girls and young women, and
women's empowerment in all forms.
